Dashing Dreams

It's been a few weeks but I blame a combination of work and Stanley Cup hockey.  Speak of, so much for the Canucks run for the cup...

After last year's amazing season, losing in Game 7 of the Cup Final, and the subsequent riot, it's not really a surprise to many that this season didn't even come close to matching the previous one.  As one friend put it - last year was like getting dumped by your boyfriend then coming home to find they shit the bed and trashed your house.  Why would you want to put yourself through it again?

As my family and friends can attest, I have not been as intense about hockey this season.  It's not because I love it any less, I just found that after the mental, emotional, and monetary investment of the previous season, I just didn't have as much to give this year which is kind of how the Canucks looked at times.

Are our dreams of parading the Stanley Cup through Downtown Vancouver dashed for this year?  Obviously.  Are those dreams gone forever?  Absolutely not.  There's nothing like a long summer to get everyone motivated to win it all next season.  Am I delusional?  Maybe...but that's what it means to be a fan =)
